This year, two new cars are joining the Skoda range of:-

Rear row, Karoq and Kodiaq,

Front row, Citigo (3 and 5 door) , Fabia (5 door and estate) , Superb (liftback and estate) , Octavia (liftback and estate) and Rapid (liftback) .

Kinja'd!!!

Are the Kamiq (smaller stablemate to the Karoq, think VW T-Roc or SEAT Ateca) ,

The only ones I don’t like really are the Fabia estate (looks like someone crushed a pre-facelift Octavia, just looks awkward),

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

and the Rapid* , which is a rebadged SEAT Toledo, the liftback is anyway.

I mean, look at the rear quarter, it’s like who ever designed it, got bored after the rear wheelarch and went for a coffee, then went, meh, I’ll do the tailgate now and put this bit in here.

Kinja'd!!!

I liked the Rapid Spaceback (non SEAT product).

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Looks way better from the side than the Rapid liftback.

Kinja'd!!!

*looking at the Skoda U.K. website, there is no Rapid liftback anymore. Yay.

They are still taking orders for the Rapid Spaceback though.

I was seriously considering a Scala to replace the Leon but got tired of waiting for UK specs and prices so have been lured to the dark side (VW proper) by a great deal on a new car.

So your going ‘full-VW’ then?

Polo or Golf?

I'm liking the Polo's at the moment, they are what the Mk3 Golf used to be in size. Good looking cars too.

So if you get the Space Back (which is the hatchback), you should be getting the Scala then. The only market I think won't is India, where the Scala name has been used by Nissan/Renault for the Renault Scala made by Nissan India.

The VW UP!, SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo have nothing in it really other than the UP! Gets a GTi version.

Well the Fabia estate looks odd (I think anyway), the Octavia has that awful quad headlamp thing going on and we’ll the Superb, looks great (if I say so myself).

The Scala is available in Europe already and we in the U.K. should be getting it about July I believe, the Kamiq is coming in September I believe and then a facelifted Superb after that.

Yes full VW, the new Polo GTi,  managed to jump the (ridiculous) 40-50 week wait for them by grabbing a dealer ordered demo in the colour and with the options I want which is being built next week, so only a 9 week wait now (they are built in South Africa).

Congrat ulations. There’s one down my street in gunmetal grey, it looks understated but great at the same time. The waiting times are ridiculous. I thought 16 weeks was bad enough for a Skoda Superb or VW Golf.

Just looked at the Scala on the German Skoda website. The 1.0TSi is manual only, the 1.5TSi is DSG only :( and the 1.6TDi is available in both.

In Chile Skoda sells very few cars, last year they had a marketshare of 0.2% they are cars for people who know a bit of car history as most people just think it’s Chinese. Strangely enough VW decided to bring Seat later this year which I ’m sure won’t help with Skoda sales. I think we w ill be one of the few American countries to have the entire VAG range (except Bugatti of course).

If I'd have waited for the Scala I would have wanted the 1.5 DSG, I have no desire to go back to a manual now. The Polo GTi only comes with DSG in the UK, is also a 2.0tsi so should be fun, I've gone for met blue and the plus model that has nice stuff like led headlights, keyless entry, adaptive cruise and digital dashboard, just got to be patient for the next 9 weeks!

Which is a massive shame. I’m on my third Superb since 2013.

They are fantastic cars, so solid and reliable. Practical and cheaper than VWs and much cheaper than Audis.

And in my opinion, better looking too.

Kinja'd!!!

Skoda still has a stigma from the old days of being a cheap unreliable Eastern European car, even though VW VAG have o wned the company for over 30 years now.

Very nice. It’s a great colour.

I’m still getting used to the keyless entry and start button.

Yeah it looks nice in pictures, and most importantly it’s not bloody black!!

I think I’m going to disable the keyless entry (with OBDEleven) , security issues aside (having to keep the keys in a Faraday pouch\box so the car can’t be stolen) I’ve been told the car doesn’t auto lock when you walk away from it like Renault’s etc do, also means means welcome headlights don’t come on at night unless you manually unlock so it seems a bit pointless, will be just like our i3 once disabled, unlock the car with the key in your pocket, leave it in said pocket and just hit the start button.
